iii / Services
What We Do

Five services. One quiet office.

We do not run a forecourt. We do not advertise inventory online. The work happens privately — and in five disciplines, depending on what the collector requires.

i.

Acquisition

Private sale brokerage of investment-grade collector automobiles. Buyer-side searches, valuations, and pre-purchase inspection coordinated globally.

ii.

Consignment

Discreet representation of single cars or full collections, with controlled buyer outreach and no public listings. Average sale cycle 4–9 months.

iii.

Authentication

Chassis, drivetrain, and history-file authentication. We work with Ferrari Classiche, Porsche Heritage, Lamborghini Polo Storico, and independent marque experts.

iv.

Storage & Stewardship

Climate-controlled long-term storage in our Yorkville vault. Quarterly drives, mechanical stewardship, photographic condition reports.

v.

Estate Liquidation

Discreet, professional dispersal of inherited collections in coordination with estate attorneys and family offices. Confidentiality assured.

iv / Marques
Specialisation

Eight marques we know intimately.

Our specialists have decades inside each of these marques — at the factory, at the dealer level, and at the auction houses. We rarely take on cars outside this group.

v / Process
From Inquiry To Garage

Five stages, three to nine months.

Acquiring a serious car is rarely a fast process. We move at the pace authenticity demands — never at the pace of an auction calendar.

i.
Confidential Brief
A discreet conversation — in person or over secure call — to understand the marque, the era, the budget, the use case. We sign a confidentiality agreement before discussing inventory.
Week 1
ii.
Sourcing & Comparables
We work our global network of private collectors, retired dealers, factory contacts, and auction principals. Public auction houses are usually our last resort.
Weeks 2–12
iii.
Authentication & Pre-Purchase
Chassis verification, drivetrain matching, history file audit, paint depth scan, road test, lift-up inspection by a marque specialist. We attend in person, wherever the car is.
Months 3–4
iv.
Negotiation & Closing
Price negotiated against verified comparables. Closing handled through our solicitor in escrow. Funds, title, and customs paperwork move in a single coordinated step.
Months 5–7
v.
Logistics & Delivery
Enclosed transport, climate-controlled. Customs brokerage, registration, insurance, and (if requested) discreet delivery direct to your garage. We meet the car at the door.
Months 7–9
vi / The Vault
Private Yorkville Showroom · By Appointment

A vault, not a forecourt.

MotorVault occupies a converted carriage house off Yorkville Avenue in central Toronto — twelve thousand square feet of climate-controlled storage, a private viewing floor, a small lounge, and three locked rooms for cars under offer. The address is not advertised. There is no signage at the door. Visits are by appointment only, in cycles of one client at a time.

If you visit, you'll find the floor quiet. Whiskey in a decanter. Coffee from a Slayer. A house Boxer dog named Magnus who will inspect your shoes. No salespeople. The principal who meets you handles your file from inquiry to garage delivery.

vii / Specialists
The Principals

Four specialists. One conversation.

Each specialist has spent a career inside the marque they represent. Your inquiry is taken — and seen through — by a principal, never an associate.

viii / Journal
From The Vault

Notes on provenance.

Marque histories, market commentary, auction post-mortems, and the occasional opinion on the cars we wish we hadn't sold. Written by the principals — never a copywriter.

Provenance · Featured Essay

The history file is the car.

A 1973 Carrera RS without its history file is worth a third of one with. We explain why provenance matters more than mileage — why a hand-written service log from 1981 is worth six figures — and what we look for when we audit a binder. The most important pages, in our experience, are the boring ones.

Quarterly Drives

Why every vault car gets driven, every season.

A car that doesn't run is a car that breaks. Our seasonal stewardship protocol explained.

Market Commentary

The case against buying at auction.

Public auctions are theatre. The serious cars trade privately, between dealers and between collectors. Why we rarely bid.
